Greece: Part One

Hi there! I’m starting to fall behind a little bit on these as we spend time in places that don’t have trains between them or we are busy in the evenings! I’ve decided to split Greece up into two sections. The first will be Athens, and the second will be the islands. So, to begin, here’s Athens.

Croatia

Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve written anything! I’m not even sure how I’m going to get everything we did over the last few days into a post. Will just have to see how we go…

Budapest

Hello! Here is another quick stop in a city as we make our way through Europe!

We arrived at around lunchtime on Wednesday and went to drop our bags at the hostel we were staying in. Jordan & Tristin were staying just around the corner which was convenient. We decided to grab some lunch so had a look through the central market to find something to eat. The prepared food there way very expensive and the place is obviously a tourist trap, so we opted for the supermarket!

Vienna

Hello again! We’ve had a pretty quick stop in Vienna but had a great time walking around the streets and checking things out!

We arrived on Monday in the afternoon and checked into our hotel. We hadn’t realised, but our hotel was pretty much brand new. It had only been open for 7 weeks! It was very funky with all kinds of colours (mainly pinks and purples) everywhere. Such a random hotel and only a 9 minute walk from the central train station! We were glad we didn’t have to lug our packs very far like we have in some cities.

Prague

Another country Czech’d off the list! Prague is such a cool place! It’s filled with cool buildings, a big old clock, a river, and every stag/hens do in Europe.

A quick update on the train seat situation though – we decided that €3 each to guarantee a seat on the train was worth it after the last experience. So this time it’s a 5 hour train to Austria with a seat that no one is going to kick us out of. How good. Anyway, back to Prague!

Berlin

Hello! We made it to Berlin after a long train ride which was extended from 7 hours to 8 hours due to delays. As I write this, I’m sitting on the floor of a 4 hour train to Prague which has been overbooked. We are travelling on trains with Eurail passes and what they don’t tell you is that you can book seats on every train even if it doesn’t say they’re required. All good though – I’ve got my spot on the floor at the end of the carriage and there are 6 others here with me! Adds to the adventure, right?

Amsterdam

Hello! We’ve had a great few days in Amsterdam, although unfortunately we weren’t able to go to Anne Frank House or the Van Gogh museum. Both of these attractions were completely sold out (Anne Frank House for the next 2 months!). It was a shame, but we still found plenty to do!

Bruges

Hello! I have procrastinated writing this one because Bruges has been so relaxing. But I’ve now got nearly 4 hours on the train to Amsterdam so plenty of time to write about it!

Paris

We’ve made it to a new country!

We managed to find our way off the Eurostar to our hotel which is near the Eiffel Tower. It was so exciting to be greeted by Jordan & Tristin there as they are going to be our travel buddies for the next few weeks! They’ve been over here for two months already and they were excited to see some people they know!

Last Days in England

Hello!

This is a random one because it didn’t fit in the last blog about Scotland, and it doesn’t fit in the next one (spoiler: the next one is Paris).
